When your family's future is on the line, you need an attorney who knows U.S. immigration law inside and out. Our Orlando-based firm has guided Central Florida families through visas, green cards, citizenship, asylum, and deportation defense for nearly three decades.
Why Orlando families choose our firm
Orlando is one of the most diverse metros in Florida, and immigration cases here come in every shape — Disney H-2B workers, Brazilian and Venezuelan families seeking asylum, Puerto Rican entrepreneurs expanding businesses, K-1 fiancés navigating consular processing in their home countries. We have handled all of it. According to U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey data, Orange County is home to roughly 350,000 foreign-born residents — about 22% of the county. Statewide, Florida ranks third nationally with approximately 4.5 million foreign-born residents (American Immigration Council).
Our office sits in downtown Orlando, just two miles from the Orlando Immigration Court at 3535 Lawton Road, and a short drive from the USCIS Orlando Field Office on Sand Lake Road. When your case requires an in-person appearance, we are already there.
We work in English and Spanish, our document review process is thorough enough to catch the small mistakes that get applications rejected, and we are transparent about fees from the first consultation. No surprise bills, no rotating attorneys — you work directly with Gustavo Vargas, who has practiced exclusively in immigration law since 1996.
We serve clients throughout Central Florida, including the surrounding Seminole County and Polk corridor communities. If you are closer to one of them, see our local pages for an immigration lawyer in Sanford, an immigration lawyer in Altamonte Springs, or an immigration lawyer in Davenport.

What clients say
Mr. Gustavo Vargas was my lawyer twice, years ago for my immigration process and now for my husband's. He is extremely Professional and knowledgeable about the entire process. Both times it was a success story! Highly recommended. Thank you so much.alba inacio
A great service and organisation. He explained the process many times and provided detailed instructions every step of the way. When an issue occurred in the process (and through Covid) Mr Vargas clearly detailed what needed to be done and how.Ian Collins
Great service and I'm glad I paid my money to have his guidance.

Gustavo Z. Vargas, Esq.
Gustavo is one of the Florida attorneys to hold Board Certification in Immigration and Nationality Law — the Florida Bar's highest credential of expertise. He has practiced exclusively in immigration law since 1996, representing clients before USCIS, immigration courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Born in Lima, Peru and an immigrant himself, Gustavo speaks fluent Spanish. He earned his J.D. at Florida State University in 1992. When you hire our firm, you work with him directly — not a rotating associate.
Common questions from Orlando clients
How much does an immigration lawyer in Orlando cost?
Our fees are flat and quoted upfront after a free 30-minute consultation. You will know the total cost before you decide to hire us, so there are no surprise bills and no hourly billing for retainer work. The exact fee depends on case complexity — a straightforward family-based green card costs less than a contested deportation defense — but every quote is written and final.
How long do USCIS cases take from the Orlando field office?
Processing times vary by case type and current USCIS workload. Marriage-based green cards filed in the Orlando jurisdiction commonly take 10–14 months from filing to interview. Naturalization (N-400) commonly takes 6–9 months. We monitor every case weekly and intervene with congressional inquiries or service requests when cases stall beyond normal processing times.
Do I need to come to your office, or can we meet virtually?
Both options work. Many clients prefer in-person for the initial consultation and conduct the rest by phone, email, and Zoom. If you live outside Orlando — anywhere in Florida or even outside the U.S. — we can represent you remotely and only require in-person attendance for your USCIS interview or court date.
What happens at the free consultation?
We spend 30 minutes understanding your situation, your immigration history, your goals, and any prior denials or deadlines. You will leave knowing whether you have a viable path forward, what it will cost, and what the timeline looks like. There is no obligation to hire us, and the consultation is confidential under attorney-client privilege.
Can you help if I am in removal proceedings?
Yes — deportation defense is a core practice area. If you have received a Notice to Appear (NTA) or have an upcoming hearing at the Orlando Immigration Court, contact us immediately. Defense strategy depends heavily on your prior history and timing, and missed deadlines can be fatal to a case. See our deportation defense page for more.
Do you handle cases outside of Florida?
Yes. While our office is in Orlando, immigration law is federal, so we represent clients before USCIS and immigration courts nationwide. Many of our clients live in other states, and our consular processing cases involve a dozen or more countries.
¿Hablan español?
